SWEET THINGS
There’s nothing quite like the first hit of a sugar rush: the lovely buzz, the flood of well-being and the sense that, for a few minutes at least, all’s right with the world. We’re not advocating that you eat it all the time, but we like a bit of sweet hedonism and if indulging every now and then makes you happy, then bring it on.
So, how can we tempt you? In the cafes we’ve got Earthy-baked muffins, cupcakes, iced layer cakes, light sponge cakes, scones, brownies, dense and sticky fruit and nut cakes; or flaky, buttery pastries – try a creme-pat filled Pepito, almond croissant, or zingy bite-sized lemon tart. In-store we’ve got homemade cakes, sticky sponge puddings, iced fruit desserts, biscuits galore – plain, chocolate covered, crumbly, chewy, some with glorious bits and chunks in – shortbread, flapjacks, tiffin, old-fashioned slab cakes for tea, truffles, fudge, and a range of chocolate that Willy Wonka would be proud of. Or if you just want something sweet on bread, oatcakes, crackers or crispbreads, we’ve got jams, jellies, preserves, marmalades, honey and chocolate spreads. Best yet, local comb honey when it comes in to season. Go on. You know you want to. |
