BREAD & VIENNOISERIE
Give us this day our daily bread.
Cut thick and slathered with salty butter; dunked into peppery olive oil then spicy, crunchy dukkah; torn into hunks and used to mop up the last traces of sticky gravy; toasted and eaten with bittersweet marmalade; chargrilled and topped with still warm, slow-roasted garlicky tomatoes; or wrapped around cheese, egg, meat, fish or vegetables. We just can’t imagine life without good bread.
One of the first things we did when Earthy was still a twinkle in the eye, was go looking for brilliant bakers. Oh boy, did we get lucky. We found two local bakers who can do magic with flour, salt, yeast and water and supply us with around 15 different types of bread and pastries every day.
We’ve got flatbreads, sourdough, seeded loaves, French country-style, walnut bread, focaccia, bagels, baguettes, rolls, wholemeal and wholegrain, or just plain white with a perfect crust. Something for everyone to sink their teeth into.
But we never stop looking to expand our range and with that in mind last year we have added Organic loaves from the social enterprise, award winning bakery Breadshare who are based down in Portobello, Breadshare won Scotland’s Best Bakery of the Year 2016.
We have also added three wholemeal tin loaves made with Shipton Mill Organic flour from our friends at Archipelago Bakery, on Dundas St by our branch in Canonmills.
Because we think everyone should enjoy good quality bread we also carry the Great Taste Award winning Gluten Free bread from Findlater’s Fine Foods a company whom we have proudly stocked for years.
